Lt. Colonel William J. Cahill,
age 76, of Dawsonville, Ga., died peacefully
from a chronic illness on Wednesday
February 24, 2010.

Colonel Cahill was born in Brooklyn, New
York and had lived in Dawsonville since
1996. Lt. Colonel Cahill served in the US
Army for 23 years and two terms in Vietnam.  
He was last stationed  and retired from Fort
McPherson. He was a member of Bethel
United Methodist Church in Dawsonville, Ga.
and was a member of Chestatee Masonic
Lodge in Dawsonville. He was an avid
outdoorsman and was a member of the
National Wildlife and Turkey Federation.
Colonel Cahill was a loving husband, father,
grandfather, and friend.

He was the son of the late Harold P. Cahill
and Frances Shattuck Cahill.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Cahill,
Dawsonville; children, Jay Cahill, Griffin, Ga.,
Bette-Lyn and Kenny Endress, Maryland,
Lynnée Coley, Sugar Hill, Ga., Tom and
Donna Waters, Dahlonega, Ga., Doug and
Michelle Waters, Cleveland, Ga., Kay and
Stanley McDonald, Dawsonville, Ga;
brothers, Harold and Bobbie Cahill, Beaufort,
South Carolina, Willard and Lavance Cahill,
Ohio; grandchildren, Christina Cahill, Ryan
Endress, Christopher Endress, Savannah
Waters, and Cole Waters, mother-in-law, Ann
Barbieri, Long Island, N.Y; God Daughter,
Vivenne Mazzola, Wading River, N.Y;
sister-in-law, Janet Callahan, Smithtown,
N.Y; niece, Lisa Caselli, Smithtown, N.Y; and
numerous nieces and nephews.  

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM
Saturday February 27, 2010 at the Banister
Funeral Home Chapel in Dahlonega, Ga. Dr.
Orin L. Sampson will officiate.

Interment will follow in Macedonia Baptist
Church Cemetery in Lumpkin County with full
military honors and Masonic graveside rites.

The family will receive friends at the funeral
home on Saturday February 27, 2010 from 10
AM until 2 PM.
Banister Funeral home of Dahlonega is in
charge of arrangements.
