Mr. James A. McClure, age
86, of Dahlonega, passed away Saturday,
September 25, 2010 at his home.

He was a World War II veteran and a lifelong
resident of Lumpkin County. He served for
many years as a Deacon, Church Clerk, and
Sunday School Teacher at Mt. Gilead Baptist
Church. He leaves behind a legacy of total
commitment to his home and family, church,
and community.

James A.  was the son of the late William
and Harriett A. McClure. He is survived by his
wife of 54 years, Shirley McClure; daughter,
Marsha Haynes, Gainesville, GA; son, Jim
McClure and wife Val, of Dahlonega; six
grandchildren, William, Kate, and Jake
McClure, Jordan Haynes, Abby and Shane
Murphy, and Audrey and Jeremy Rassell; two
great-grandchildren, Tyler and Lilly Rassell;
two sisters, Irene Henson-Ballew of
Columbia, S.C., and Jo D Carder of
Dahlonega.  Several nieces and nephews
and a host of friends also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM
Tuesday September 28, 2010 at Mt. Gilead
Baptist Church in Dahlonega with Brothers
Dean Bryant, Les Fuller and Stephen
Gerrells officiating.

Mr. McClure will lie in state at the church from
1:30 PM until 2 PM on Tuesday.

Burial will follow in Mt. Gilead Historic
Cemetery in Dahlonega.

The family will receive friends from 5 PM ‘til 9
PM on Monday September 27, 2010 and on
Tuesday until 1:00 PM at Banister Funeral
Home in Dahlonega.

Banister Funeral Home of Dahlonega is in
